the trashy modern zelink au is a semi-conceptual narrative set in modern-day hyrule where link is a renowned but unhinged student athlete who wields the master kitchen knife, and zelda is a frustrated company heir (and child of a shady businessman) who wields the power of the triforce, which is a gun. this honestly started off as a joke but i just kept on adding to it, so now i'm obsessed.
the songs included in this playlist depict the experiences of our protagonists in the au, and is divided into four parts of the overarching timeline, following several characters (but mostly zelda and link). there is a music player embedded in the bottom of the desktop browser, but i'll also link the spotify link below. idk i'm simply out here living my life man i'm just always thinking of them [breaking heart emoji]
this is about zelda and their mother, and what a mother passes down in divine blood. zelda is 'trapped in their body' (their corporeal form) 'kept from the other side' (hylia's form). the 'second life' pertains to the everlasting cycle of goddesses and heroes brought on by demise's curse. and this song is just overall fucked up.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
My mother hates her body /
We share the same outline /
She swears that she loves mine
We are down to Earth / We see eye to eye / We dig our feet in / My mother and I
[Verse 2]
They called me an old soul /
When I was too young to know /
The difference between a soul and a ghost /
I feared what was inside /
Trapped in my body kept from the other side /
A spirit searching for her second life
[Chorus]
We want love /
Warm and forever /
We want to die in the presence of our loved ones /
My mother and I
[Outro]
All she has given /
All I have taken
a song about mipha and link's childhood before the world was big.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
7:45 in the morning, I'm leaving my house /
Trying not to think of all the ways, this place has changed /
Walked around my neighbourhood /
One hundred, one million, billion, trillion times
[Chorus]
I just miss how it felt standing next to you /
Wearing matching dresses before the world was big
[Verse 2]
My brain's like a rolling snowball, I'm a fire truck /
Trying not to think of all the ways, my mind has changed
zelda gets past middle school and their mother is dead, and rhoam regains custody. it was at this point that they have discussed amongst one another that zelda will be the company heir, and they have no choice of pursuing their own dreams.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Mom, I'm tired /
Can I sleep in your house tonight? /
Mom, is it alright /
If I stay for a year or two?
[Verse 2]
Mom, I'll be quiet /
It would be just to sleep at night /
And I'll leave once I figure out /
How to pay for my own life too
[Verse 3]
Mom, would you wash my back? /
This once, and then we can forget /
And I'll leave what I'm chasing /
For the other girls to pursue
hylia explains one of the many ways the world could end, a sentiment that zelda would repeat time and time again.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Full disclosure, I am a monster /
A creature of despair, not that that should be a cause for concern /
If there's one thing I've learned in all my years here /
It's that despair is less abundant in those who understand /
How to plant their hearts in community gardens
[Chorus]
You'll be fine, you honeycomb /
Who could ever hurt you? Who could be so cold? /
You'll be fine, oh honey pie /
Who could ever hurt you? Who could be so unkind?
[Verse 2]
The culmination of man's mistakes came the day /
The sun ran so hot, it turned the desert to glass /
If there's something to be learned from all these losers /
It's that the price that you pay /
For arrogance and a false sense of immunity /
Is to face the wrath of a dying star
zelda is in the dream realm, coming to terms with the fabric of their existence and how it affects the structure of the world, but also they just have questions because what else would you expect them to do in the immediate presence of god?
lyrics:
If I can't choose to be born / and I'm meant to make my own rules / but I must die, / Is there a point? / No- Yes / If I can make up a point, / Is it valid? / Yes No / Can we all exist / with our set of purposes for living? / Yes / Is anyone wrong? / No, no / Is wrong even a factor? / No / Is any reality fixed? / No
If I'm in my body / and you're in yours with no way to swap, / How can we ever truly be together? / (Can't)
No matter how hard I press my face into yours / A space remains / so am I alone? / Yep / Nope / God no
it's a bit of a funny song about being involved with a mafia family. at the moment zelda has a mafia prince vibe about them so that' s pretty much it.
lyrics:
[Pre-Chorus 1]
Might you recall? / We've got a small family business (business) / And the family won't like this
i'll just drop a quote from an ask i answered: "i hate you. i want you to get out of my life. you're the only person who really knows me. AND i hate that. i have no one else to talk to."
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
You and me, we're not the same / I am a sinner, you are a saint / When we get to the pearly gates / You'll get the green light, I'll get the old door in the face / Doo-doo-doo, I'm a loser, a disgrace / Yeah!
[Verse 2]
I've found love in the strangest place / Tied up and branded, locked in a cage / I say I'm gonna stage a great escape / Let loose a love all pent up and painfully out of place / Doo-doo-doo, I'm a loser, a disgrace / You're a beauty, a luminary, in my face
zelda's animalistic hatred of the prophesy.
lyrics:
I love you, and if you want, I'll call you king / But why do I lie awake each night thinking / Instead of you, it should be me? / Something wicked this way comes / And as I set to face it, I'm unsure / Should I embrace it, should I run?
What motivates me - hatred? Is it love? / What's more wrong - that I too wish to be great / Or my mother wished she'd had a son?
this is sort of a reflection of what both zelda and link have in common, their insecurities, fears, how fucked up they are, i'd put the entire song in the lyrics section because it fits so well but yes.
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
Love my mum and love my daddy / Sure they messed me up but that is / Voices that they left inside of my head / Darling, dearest, don't you see / I'm tough, I'm smart, I'm bourgeoisie? / And I'll play out this lie until we’re all dead
[Chorus]
Count my little scars, I've got dozens down inside / I come complete and invincible behind my dirty imbecile / All these things I've tried, boy: Be cute, be dumb, be wise, be young / So don't tell me what to fear in the darkness of this atmosphere
[Counter-Chorus]
Am I good? Is all I could enough for you? / I'm so scared of when and where I'll find the truth
about:
their 'give me what i want' attitude is highlighted in this song. i know this is about like a toxic relationship with a lover but i like to think that it's with zelda's mom.
lyrics:
[Chorus]
Make me behave like an animal / Make me behave like an animal / I'm asking nicely, give me what I want / I'll ask politely, give me what I want
i think this excerpt from the band explains it well: "On some level, it's thinking about spiritual crisis, crying out for guidance and not hearing a voice in return, or hearing a nefarious voice. But on another level, also realizing how much we can get out of each other that we don't really need to speak to the heavens for support. We can find it amongst ourselves. Also just feeling like a monster, feeling fucked up and crazy."
lyrics:
Something's terrorized my psyche to get even / Lately you're the only human I believe in / I tried to understand his logic / But there's just no pattern there / No sympathetic voices anywhere / There's blood in my hair
Now I'm considered ugly from every angle / You're the only beauty I don't want to strangle / Can't you hear me crying out for guidance? / (Yes, we hear but we don't care) / There's no sympathetic victims anywhere / There's blood in my hair
I want to get all fucked up and tell you how I really feel / Because your vibrant blackness coco augury is so unreal / When I die I want you to die too / Not trying to stay in this or any dimension without you / Spit on this planet without you / I envy you because you can believe in things like I never could
prophetic vision feels, this could be from either perspective. really gives an insight as to how the responsibility and the dreams fucked them up.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Stuck in a ditch, I left you to die /
No "I'm leaving you tonight" /
It's not leaving if I wasn't there /
What I mean is I don't care
[Chorus]
I feel dumb, I feel lazy /
And you feel, you feel nothing at all /
I like to dream I'm not the crazy one /
But everything I do is wrong
[Verse 2]
Yet I'm just the same as everyone /
And you're just the same as me /
I feel dumb, I can't make an easy hole in one /
And you feel, you feel the same to me
just a song i loosely relate to link. they have some strong feelings about the master kitchen knife that they weild, afraid that it makes them a killer, afraid of hurting the people around them but at the same time they pretty much equivocally accept their role in the prophecy.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Sometimes I think I'm a killer /
I scared you in your house /
I even scared myself by talking /
About Dahmer on your couch /
But I can't sleep next to a body /
Even harmless in death /
Plus, I'm pretty sure I'd miss you /
And faking sleep to count your breath
[Chorus]
Can the killer in me /
Tame the fire in you? /
Or is there nothing left to do for us? /
I am sick of the chase /
But I'm hungry for blood /
And there's nothing I can do
that hylia-damned zelda. zelda's complex, suffocating relationship with their mother (see the short animated film below for a parallel) gets the best of them in the worst of times.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
She's in my head again /
She knows where I have been /
I'm going down that road again /
She's in my bed again /
She marks her fingerprints in my skin /
I breathe her perfume in /
And it burns like heroin
[Pre-Chorus]
Now she's in me /
And I can't let her go
[Chorus]
And my bones are caving in /
And she stole my faith again /
And I wish you well /
Oh, for the night /
'Til you come again
this is a meaningless conversation between zelda and link when they tried to get to know each other in high school (souls were bared but they retreat right back anyways, like clockwork.) zelda wishes they could be understood, and link wishes they could be successful.
lyrics:
I've been staying up too late / Just so I could burn one / I've been making too many mistakes / That I don't ever learn from / I've been feeling guilty / Cause I'm not what I could be / I wish that they could still see / I wish they understood me
I wish I had a time machine
I wanna be a trophy / I wanna have an owner / I just want you to hold me / Until all of this is over
I wish I had a time machine
the dreams continue, and things are getting strange because they might be catching feelings. much to their collective dismay.
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
I'd rather be jumping ship /
I find myself jumping straight in /
Stop doing what you /
Keep doing it to /
Forever be dozy and dim /
I wake myself thinking of him /
Stop doing what you /
Keep doing it to
[Chorus]
Things are getting strange, I'm starting to worry /
This could be a case for Mulder and Scully /
Things are getting strange, now I can't sleep alone, here /
link is killing the games, zelda's at a party unenthusiastically swaying to a song that makes zelda think of them. they find that they're yearning for something more but there's still that unmistakeable divide between them.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Not like I'm countin' the days /
But it's been twenty-five /
You're out there killin' the game /
But damn, I miss you tonight
[Pre-Chorus]
And I'm out at a party, they're playin' our song /
I cry on the dance floor, it's so embarrassin' /
Don't send me photos, you're makin' it worse /
'Cause you're so hot it's hurtin' my feelings
[Chorus]
I get a little lonely /
Get a little more close to me /
You're the only one who knows me, babe /
So hot you're hurtin' my feelings /
Can't deal
when not-friends have to keep up appearances.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I see your name light up on my phone /
I feel a little differently about you than I did not long ago /
You drank too much beer and you got afraid /
You don't remember typin' in my number /
I say it's okay, it's not okay
[Verse 2]
Next New Year's Eve, I'll see you there /
We'll rotate around the room on different planets /
I say I don't care, but I care
[Pre-Chorus]
And I never say it, but I fucking hate it /
You ask if I mind /
Then you're right there, oh, it's not fair
[Chorus]
I, I know I never said it /
But I thought that you'd figure it out, I /
Don't have the heart to break it /
So I'm hoping you'll figure it out
link, at times, appears apathetic (even though this is only the lack of speaking that does this, they're really really not), which leads them to feel like they're drifting in and out the bustling circles of human society at times. maybe they're also a little bit evil. they don't know how to communicate.
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
Turn off your porcelain face /
I can't really think right now and this place /
Has too many colors, enough to drive all of us insane /
Are you dead? Sometimes I think I'm dead /
'Cause I can feel ghosts and ghouls wrapping my head /
But I don't wanna fall asleep just yet
[Chorus] My eyes went dark / I don't know where / My pupils are / But I'll figure out a way to get us out of here
[Bridge] Get a load of this monster / He doesn't know how to communicate / His mind is in a different place / Will everybody please give him a little bit of space? / Get a load of this train wreck / His hair's a mess and he doesn't know who he is yet / But little do we know, the stars / Welcome him with open arms
this song is about link from the perspective of zelda. includes dreaming about each other dying, feeling like killing machines armed for the end of the world, and probably also feeling like the other person sees a faker version of you, and finally, favoring ignorance of the situation because, what the fuck are you supposed to do, really?
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
Here is my day plan, here's my new machine /
He is a fine new addition, so young and so clean /
So young and so clean /
He came up through the water without a sound /
With my back to the shoreline, I dreamt that he drowned /
I dreamt that he drowned
[Pre-Chorus]
And sometimes, when he looks at me /
I know he needs you, you're all that he sees
[Chorus]
And if I breathe you, will it kill me? /
Will you have me, or watch me fall? /
If I fix you, will you hate me? /
And would you fuck this and let us fall?
they think they had it all figured out by now. the thing is, link is leaving hyrule and they inevitably have to part ways.
lyrics:
[Outro]
Caught up in the mess that we made /
Lost within the phrases we prayed /
Traces of the places we stayed /
Was this the plan or has it all changed?
the final confrontation, a graduation ceremony with zelda and link shoulder to shoulder. link was set out to fly to brazil the next day, and only zelda knew. they express that as much as how they'd like to burn everything down and forget about each other in spite, zelda wants link to stay. cue the heartbreak.
lyrics:
I tried just burning the whole thing to the ground today / But decisiveness is such a foreign tenant to my psyche / It violently and immediately began to reject it / So I had no choice but to salvage the ravaged remains of our history
I danced with you in a nightmare / I was dragging you across the floor / The radio disrupted by some voyeuristic spirit / I could hardly stand under the weight of my little crush on you / And you, so limp in my arms, hardly helped / So, all that I could do was collapse under you
You called my bluff, I love you too much / Would you please stay with me? / 'Cause after all is said and done / I want you here, stay with me / I showed my hand and I don't give a damn / Shut the door, stay with me / 'Cause after all is said and done / I need you here
link living that high life as a celebrity athlete, but is still generally unhappy anyways.
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
Handsome young man, never pull up on time / Lookin' in the mirror, lookin' good should be a crime / All this pain I'll never let show / My real thoughts, you'll never know / Handsome young man, never worried 'bout time / Flexin' on the 'net, it's the same offline / If I don't lead, where will they go? / They follow my every move / Every move
link's experience being in a completely different country trying to forget the life they left behind.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Every time I find myself I feel so lost /
And every truth that I discover feels so false /
And every mountain that I climb that seemed so tall /
It only felt that way 'cause the valley was so small /
Excuse me while I cry
[Chorus]
At this point you're pretty much out of my mind /
But when I close my eyes I think about you every time /
At this point you're pretty much out of my mind /
But when I close my eyes I think about you every time
this whole song is about the feeling of falling off your prime, which is what link thinks happened to them at the olympics, and that's why they move back to hyrule (not exactly a brand new city, but it almost is.)
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
I think my fate is losing its patience / I think the ground is pulling me down / I think my life is losing momentum / I think my ways are wearing me down
[Bridge]
But if I gave up on being pretty, I wouldn't know how to be alive / I should move to a brand new city and teach myself how to die
reminiscing.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Blue skies and green fields /
I'm thinking of the older years /
If I had the chance to relive those days /
I'd take it, and I'd run away for good /
Nostalgia is what I feel /
It's vibrant, and it is very real /
zelda finds that link had enrolled in their college. some of this is addressed to link, some to hylia.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Hello again / Friend of a friend, I knew you when / Our common goal was waiting for the world to end / Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend / You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick, the past again
this song is mostly about link trying to settle back into hyrulean society, from the perspective of zelda and by extension the people around them. the 'settling back down' part has wildly different definitions because link was never really part of that world to begin with, always outside looking in. the second pre-chorus is from link's perspective, though.
lyrics:
On the magazine cover, with your blue-white eyes / Read it from cover to cover, looking for you / Nervous like a wild dog waiting for the attack
But I've seen the tides are rising where once there was a shore / I can still remember houses stripped to the floor
[Chorus]
There must be more than blood that holds us together /
There must be more than wind that takes us away /
There must be more than tears when they pull back the curtain /
Of this much I am certain
And it wasn't for love that you went back home / It was the guilt in your throat like you swallowed a bone / And you're grateful for the bus, it's a place to sit down / Like a spider in the winter trying not to be found
[Pre-Chorus 2]
I was flying on a red-eye, my hand dropped to the aisle /
I could see myself clearly for the first time in a while /
There was nothing but lines /
Nothing but outlines /
My gut sank like a stone /
But I heard another voice say, "We all walk alone"
the "vacant house" is the white space they used to occupy when they would share prophetic dreams and communicate with hylia. this is them reminiscing the days of bloodshed and regret in a new light now that they are reunited.
lyrics:
When we were walking out to that vacant house / I kept my blood in my gut, I kept my tongue in my mouth / Though we're going because we’re not quite dead / But darling, you're sick in the head
And now that house is gone / There's a golden lawn / There's a silver spoon / Someone's been choking on / Oh, it's not our's to say / But it's hard to explain
Since then our bodies have warped and bent / And now we are gray / I go back to that house sometimes / To see what i need to say / Our bodies are warped and bent / And now are blue / I go back to that house sometimes / Hoping I run into you /
zelda's rocky relationship with their father grows rocky. they are alienated from each other due to several factors snowballing into a general displeasure with each other.
lyrics:
You could hold her close / At night in your slumber / Dream her as a child when you loved her mother
Now you're in her house / She is smiling in a dress / She is not a woman, you are just a guest
Interstate, poison freeway / Takes you down the line / You could go back in time
because zelda smokes. and people are generally not pleased with that. understandably so.
lyrics:
Stop smoking, we love you / And we don't want you to die
it's about growing. their resentment gets smaller overtime.
lyrics:
[Chorus]
I don't know when you got taller /
See our reflection in the water /
Off a bridge at the Huntington /
I hopped the fence when I was seventeen /
Then I knew what I wanted
[Verse 2]
And when I grow up, I'm gonna look up /
From my phone and see my life /
And it's gonna be just like my recurring dream /
I'm at the movies, I don't remember what I'm seeing /
The screen turns into a tidal wave /
Then it's a dorm room, like a hedge maze
someone looks like a jerk. i like to think the old film camera belongs to revali, so maybe this is a revali song that's tied to zelda and link's arc in some way, because this song is also tied to another front bottoms piece that comes later on.
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
You bought an old film camera / And you're not even sure if it works / You say the lighting's perfect / I look like a jerk / But I know what you mean / So I stare at the ground (I get it, I get it) / That the world is unfair / I wanna go back in the house (I will never understand)
[Verse 3]
Shouldn't think about my own life / 'Cause the only thing I'm wasting is my own time / When the only thing I know is what I don't like / And the only thing I'm wasting is my own life / The things like that don't matter
background miphvali anyone... idk where to put this yet.
lyrics:
I'd choose a side if he'd let me / But first I'd choose to be somewhere to think / We're drunk when we show so we're tired when we leave / And that's his choice / And he won't leave with me / So come on boys
i think they're trying to convince each other that they're not actually in love, but they are. they're also a little in love with their friends, newfound relationships and all. throughout this song they're carrying a zombie arm (the complex, tainted, and pure bond they shared from before) to 15th grade prom (the end of the world).
lyrics:
Honey, you are nothing to me / But alcohol and dopamine / I’m dying on the sofa / And I barely know the time
I'm in love with strangers who I've never even seen / In love with weird-cut bangs and sweaters swaying kind of awkwardly / And I'm in love with fresh-air friends from overheated houses / 'Til I Uber up a giant park and dump my body in my dorm bed /
And I'll forget about it when I wake up late and stupid / I tried to tell the uber driver 'til he tried to hit it / I tried to tell myself because I've come this far along / Carrying my zombie arm to the 15th-grade prom /
Honey, you are nothing to me / I don’t call people anything thought to be so sweet / The speech is coming back with a vengeance, it seems
it is revealed that zelda started smoking in senior high, and has tried to quit before college (which failed). link goes to a party with them, and thinks about how they always seem to bite off more than they can chew. i just also really like verse 3 it's linkcore I am telling you.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
She smoked 100s when I met her /
She tried to quit before she left me /
I'm not so sure if that's important /
Free association gets me dizzy /
She asks if I'm going to the party /
I tell her I'm going to the party
[Verse 3]
But all of the kids I met on campus /
Are settled down beside the sea /
Some days, I wish that I could be that /
Sometimes, I forget to spit out the seeds /
I'll make it through this if it kills me /
Then, when it kills me, I'll come back /
Jesus will make me a disciple /
Or maybe he'll let me be your cat
[Verse 4]
Tomorrow, I'm driving to Chicago /
Tonight, I am kneeling from the pew /
Still doing all I can to understand /
One more erotic nightmare about you
zelda reflects on how mean they were in the old days, and they're in zelda's car going for a ride, slowly falling back in love but with some understandable hesitation.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Oh, the last time I saw Paul /
I was horrible and almost let him in /
Yeah, we hopped inside my car /
And I drove in circles 'round the freight train yard /
And he turned the headlights off /
Then he pulled the bottle out /
And then he showed me what was love
[Chorus]
I'll be your morning bright goodnight shadow machine /
I'll be your record player, baby, if you know what I mean /
I'll be your real tough cookie with the whiskey breath /
I'll be a killer and a thriller and the cause of our death /
[Verse 3]
Paul, I know you said that you'd take me any way I came or went /
But I'll push you from my brain /
See, you're gentle, baby /
I couldn't stay, I'd only bring you pain
they meet in each other's dreams again, and high school feelings resurface, which mostly goes unnoticed. but it's, like, definitely there.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
If I saw you now / Could I look in your eyes? / Do you think of me / Like I dream of you? / Do you wish you were here / Like I wish I was with you?
[Hook]
You've loved me before / Do you love me now?
i know this is a covid song (no this universe does not have covid) but there are mentions of sports and dogs and the world ending. also this whole song is about tension, ruining friendships, self-depreciation, which they have and/or they definitely do in the middle of semestral break.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Wait for hours in the sun in line at Dodger Stadium /
I'm not scared of dogs or getting vaccinated /
Lay the seat back, turn this place into a bed /
Someone's smoking in the Camry just ahead /
Yeah, I know the irony would never be lost on me /
You don't have to point it out again
[Chorus]
What will we say to each other /
When the needle goes in? /
What will we be to each other /
If the world doesn't еnd?
[Verse 2]
Radio is static through the Taylor song /
Think a college football gamе is comin' on /
God you hate Top 40 shit, but as the sports preempted it /
Your mouth in my ear, you hummed along /
ugh someone come get these lovesick fools, so disgusting. the perspective changes every other line idk man. more dog imagery!
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I'll wipe your blood off the concrete /
Take you to the party /
We'll drink until our brains black out /
And god, you're so pretty /
Your smile's unforgiving /
I'll place it where nobody can find
[Chorus]
Oh, I think you're alright
[Verse 2]
I'll be your old broken TV /
Your stuttering baby /
Your puppy when nobody's home /
I'll be your cigarette ash tray /
Come back when it's too late /
Worship you 'til morning comes
[Chorus]
Oh, I think you're alright
it's just a fun little mipha song
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Chicken noodle on my shirt /
All my shoes are filled with dirt /
Haven’t done my laundry in a week /
How many friendships can I keep?
[Chorus 1]
I’m a mess /
I’m a mess /
I’m a mess
funny little song about being in love that fits in with the dog motifs we have going on here.
lyrics:
I wanna be your dog / Oh, to be completely at your beck and call / I wanna live in your laundry / How I long to be your dog
And I wanna be the plate that you eat off of / I want your fork to scrape the surface of myself / I wanna be that fork as well / I wanna be the thing you think it's all about / How I long to be your dog
a song about sports and love, which is pretty much what this au is about. zelda wants link to get a move on.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
If you feel lonely /
I could be lonely with you /
Tell me, baby /
Why do you seem so blue?
[Pre-Chorus]
Why are we so complicated? /
Maybe love is overrated
[Chorus]
I'm tired of waitin' /
I was never good at sports /
Save the games for the girls on the tennis court /
Say you need me /
But lately, you feel unsure /
Come on to me, come on to me /
I need more
zelda and link drive to somewhere in the middle of a collective apocalypse-related breakdown and they start grasping at each other in reassurance, unsure of what to do now that they're here at the edge.
lyrics:
Even in the sigh of the headlight sea / Your tears were salty ocean / You opened up the engine and listened to it sing / And I thought you a lamb
You knew your daddy 'til you were thirteen / And then he took his leave for the likes of the land / And the far off salty ocean / We shook our bodies and we started to scream / And I asked you again
Tell me when we grow up, do we ever go home? / You said home becomes the highway
And then you recommended I'm a woman to keep / And I called you a man
zelda wakes up in the dream realm. hylia is gigantic, looming above them like a skyscraper. zelda receives a gun, and is now set out to right some wrongs. there aren't any lyrics here but it's inspired by where the song came from, an animation called twins in paradise. hylia says almost nothing, just tells zelda that it's dangerous to go alone and to take the gun. maybe zelda ends up shooting hylia. idk!
theme song for the zelink rebellious streak B)
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Can't stay at home, can't stay in school / Old folks say, "You poor little fool" / Down the street, I'm the girl next door / I'm the fox you've been waiting for
[Chorus]
Hello, Daddy, hello, Mom / I'm your ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch, cherry bomb / Hello, world, I'm your wild girl / I'm your ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch, cherry bomb
i JUST found this song. it speaks for itself
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I'm a Lamborghini, I'm a Hollywood star /
I'm a little bit tipsy when I drive my car /
I'm expensive sushi, I'm a cute huge yacht /
I'm a little bit single even when I'm not
[Verse 2]
I'm a Prada handbag, I'm a naughty elf / I'm a little bit "go girl!" when I touch myself / I'm a hieroglyphic, I'm an open book / I'm a little bit cray-cray if you steal my look
[Bridge]
Everybody's got a pool boy (Yummy) /
Everybody's got a horse (Neigh) /
Everybody's got a billboard (Times Square) /
Everybody's got a vault (It's locked) /
Everybody's got a stalker (Uh-oh) /
Everybody's got a horse /
But now, you've got Alexis
these are the most immaculate of drippy vibes for link just revving out their sheikah motorcycle and zelda in their car. i like to think that they race each other.
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
Scoot-scoot, boy, race out to the super-club / Let it rip like you drank all of the tequila / Get loose, street fighter, tear it up / Fresh footwear drippin' out of you onto the rug
[Chorus]
Ooh, now you're lettin' go / Heart beatin' faster, feet pushin' on the floor / Ain't nothin' better / Wavey Davey's on fire / You still got it, you still got it alright, yeah
lyrics:
[Verse 2]
First I made frenemies / Made me a lot of frenemies / Now I owe ’em seven stacks / And won't even get the circle P / So pretty please / Ain't it easy when you're eating from the fists of all the young guns / Who hardly ever thought they could be?
[Chorus]
Big noise / Decoy / They want it / They want a real shot, cowboy / Big noise / Decoy / You want me? / You want the real stuff, real noise
this, albeit is a humorous song, perfectly encapsulates the state of hyrule: fucked up, overrun with dictatorial celebrities, and susceptible to exploding in the near future.
lyrics:
Full agoraphobic, losing focus, cover blown / A book on getting better hand-delivered by a drone / Total disassociation, fully out your mind / Googling "derealization," hating what you find / That unapparent summer air in early fall / The quiet comprehending of the ending of it all
[Chorus]
There it is again /
That funny feeling
[Outro]
Hey, what can you say? /
We were overdue /
But it'll be over soon /
You wait
this song is only mostly about like. a concept. i like the aesthetic of it. it applies to college zelda, it's very sleazy, someone has a gun, lipstick, piercings, smokes, the whole shindig.
lyrics:
[Verse 3]
Sitting pretty in the prime of life / I'm so tasty and the price is right / Stewing in the black dope / I'm filthy and I love it / Studebaker all gold / Got a shotgun in my pocket
[Chorus]
You've gone with the thick rims / Big look with the lip ring and things / Wake me when the bell rings / I'm gonna sleep 'cause you live in my day dreams
this is the most fucked up thing you could ever make me or anyone else listen to so i'll let the lyrics speak for themselves.
lyrics:
She said, "what's with this dog motif?" / I said, "do you have something against dogs?"
I am almost completely soulless / I am incapable of being human / I am incapable of being inhuman / I am living uncontrollably
It's not enough to love the unreal / I am inseparable from the impossible / I want gravity to stop for me / My soul yearns for a fugitive from the laws of nature / I want a cut scene / I want a cut from your face to my face / I want a cut I want / The next related video
I don't want to go insane
Last night I dreamed he was trying to kill you / I woke up and I was trying to kill you / It's been a year since we first met / I don't know if we're boyfriends yet
Do you have any crimes that, that / We can use to pass the time I am / Running out of drugs to try and I / We said we hated humans / We wanted to be humans
In the mall in the nighttime / You came back alone with a flashlight / It was the start of nothing new / And it was my favorite scene / I couldn't tell you what it means / But it meant something to me
one would think the calamity is an undemanding natural disaster, no one would've seen it coming and everyone is washed clean of blame. let's take a look at the state of hyrule even in its ignorance of the beast snoring deep beneath the surface.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
This street is haunted like a beast /
That doesn't know its face is frightening to behold /
All the painted little gnomes /
Smiling in a line, tryna get your votes
[Chorus]
There's an architect setting fire to her house /
All the plans were there, but they built it inside out /
No one will endure what the sign told them they would /
Beware of the dogs, beware of the dogs
[Verse 2]
My home, carpet on the stairs /
Everyone in bed, their eyes are white as clouds /
Next door, sounds like bloody war /
Waiting for the phone, telling us to run
the song about the end times. sort of like a cue, almost.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Myriad had choice of his fate /
Set themselves out upon a plate for him to choose /
What had he to lose? /
Not a ghost bloodied country all covered with sleep /
Where the Black Angel did weep not an old city street in the east /
Gone to choose
[Verse 2]
And wandering's brother walked on through the night /
With his hair in his face on a long splintered cut from the knife /
Of GT /
The rally man's patter ran on through the dawn /
Until we said so long to his skull /
Shrill yell /
Shining brightly red rimmed and red lined with the time /
Infused with the choice of the mind on ice skates scraping chunks /
From the bells
zelda's relentless 'give me what i want' attitude finally caves and burns them out. somewhat hylia-related.
lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Today, I will wear my white button-down /
I'm tired of wanting more /
I think I'm finally worn /
For you have a way of promising things /
And I've been a forest fire /
I am a forest fire /
And I am the fire, and I am the forest /
And I am a witness watching it /
I stand in a valley watching it /
And you are not there at all
i like the many dog motifs in this au, zelda is a little bit of a feral mutt and this song just encapsulates all of being someone with a divine purpose, being someone's (hylia's) dog, and the filthiness of the current society.
lyrics:
Pray in the name of our fathers and their halos of retriever gold, down boy, down / Are you afraid of Silver Shawn? / Fixed my hair, lace underwear, I love the tie he's got on / And amen to my friends for always keepin' it raw / Baby let's get down I wanna bark like a god
this is another pretty sleazy song but i also like to think it's about link and zelda coming to terms with the inevitable death of the world, and to some extent, themselves.
lyrics:
And you, you are an angel, that's why you pray / And I am an ass, and that's why I bray / Your halo slipped to frame you like a photo, a porthole window / I see blood spill in the pure snow / You see sweet sauce on ice-cream cones
[Chorus]
(I'm serious, so listen now) / Baby, I got the death rattle, and baby, I got it bad / I've been digging my grave for quite some time / When I'm not digging up the past / And I chewed my only necktie / From the metal frame of my bed / Where I tied your wrists together / Spent all night givin' (Oh, you get the message though)
lol u ever feel guilty about getting up to some funky stuff while the world is ending
lyrics:
Now it's hard to stay graceful / Mostly sleeping central / At weekends my weak hands / Are shaky at best
So yr guilty again / Falling apart and walk back to his car, and you're as guilty as him / That's a pretty big heart but we're gonna have to break it
We're like, STOP! / But you don't stop / You just touch up yr makeup / You're grinding yr hips to the wheel
So they started kissing / Lips of a magician / In weeks they were tired, given / Months they were out
THIS ENTIRE SONG IS LINKCORE. THAT'S IT THAT'S THE WHOLE POST. it's a reflection of their entire arc methinks, but this is the point where they realize a lot of it.
lyrics:
I wanna feel that same sense of calm / I wanna feel that same sense of peace / It felt so real before you got here / It'll be restored after you leave / I wanna be that person again / I wanna know how it all ends
I can't wait to hear you say / That I got back a couple weeks ago / But it was all to see / Who could ride a motorcycle faster / As for me, I still believe
Do I seem anxious to you? / Do I seem backed into a corner?/ As if I had to tell the truth / But you could tell I didn't wanna / (I can't remember, it's all a blur) / (The person you are and the person you were)
I don't wanna talk / I don't wanna talk, I wanna look out the window
zelda's driving on a road that spans miles and miles and miles. the world is crumbling, and they are headed towards their doom, ready to plunge headfirst into darkness.
lyrics:
[Verse 3]
I drive when it rains / At night, when it rains, I drive / And the headlight spirits / They lead me down the Styx / So black it shines
finding the door that leads to armageddon.
lyrics:
[Pre-Chorus]
You're coming back /
And it's the end of the world /
We're starting over /
And I love you, darling /
And I am done, dear
[Chorus]
You're in the house /
And I am here in the car /
I just need a quiet place /
Where I can scream /
How I love you
[Verse 2]
I found you /
I found the door /
But when I stepped through /
There was no floor
they die.
lyrics:
It feels like we are slowly dying / All the time / Because we are
There's nothing we can do / But start digging a hole / For two
It feels like we are dying / But baby we're just fine
they're falling through the air. this is a song about facing a wall, making a choice, running out of cigarettes, having nightmares, running out of time, and not knowing what freedom is. it all builds up to this moment of them looking each other in the eye.
lyrics:
[Verse 4]
We walked as far as we could go /
The city held us as its own /
We walked as far as we could go /
We had to choose, so we took off our shoes
[Chorus]
I don't know what you're thinking /
We both know what I'm drinking /
And my smokes are running out /
I don't care what tomorrow brings /
Dreaming of some awful things /
'Cause our time is running out /
And you don't know what it means to be free
